Blogging applies under the Malaysian Law

The authorities cannot take any action against bloggers unless they break the law, said Energy, Communications and Water Minister Datuk Seri Dr Lim Keng Yaik.

"There is nothing we can do, what you want me to do? Block the whole thing (the Internet)? If they break the law and we know who they are, we will go after them," he said.

Dr Lim was asked to comment on bloggers posting wrong information about Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi who was hit by heat exhaustion on Sunday.

Umno information chief Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib later described what was reported in blogs as "mischievous," and said that action would be taken against bloggers who knowingly spread false rumours.

Lim urged the public to be selective on their sources of information on the Internet.

He said parents should discipline their children while adults must discipline themselves.

"Through the Internet, you get to select the knowledge you want, there is no Minister who pushes the knowledge to you" he told reporters after opening the APT Policy & Regulatory Forum 2007 and World Telecommunication and Information Society Day with the theme "Connecting the Young: The Opportunities of ICT."-TheStar

Malaysian Blogger Not Liars.......BUT

Referring to my earlier post, the statement that the Tourism Minister Tengku Adnan made on Sin Chew (9 March 07, Early Evening edition) was actually referring to this blogger.

The statement:

“Bloggers are liars. They use all sort of ways to cheat others. From what I know, out of 10,000 unemployed bloggers, 8,000 are women.

“Bloggers like to spread rumours, they don’t like national unity. Today our country has achievements because we are tolerant and compromising. Otherwise we will have civil war."

Was clearly not stating a Malaysian blogger.

BUT

This statement does!!

“Malays will kill Chinese, Chinese will kill Malays, Indians will kill everybody else.”

I am confused if Indonesia is full of Malay, Chinese and Indians and I am more confused that why must Malay kill Chinese first or why must Indian kill them all? This statement is so racist!!

I truly hope that the Malaysian Press could get a better explanation on this statement.

This is the true happening story that made the Tourism Minister Tengku Adnan unhappy.

You may also want to check this out.

The conclusion: Nila Tanzil is not a journalist. She is a freelance presenter and a PR.....NOT A JOURNALIST. She is not satisfied with the Malaysian Tourism Board as things was not professional during her visit here with 190 journalist all over world. She is so upset that she could not record anything in most of the destination here as the visit is about promoting Malaysia to the world(Visit Malaysia 2007). That's what she wrote about it at her blog. Nothing about liars, nothing about womens and nothing about unemployed womens....

My only advice to that Minister is "Next time..........PLEASE THINK BEFORE GIVING OUT YOUR STATEMENT"..

Malaysian Bloggers are liars? Or they scared a liar?

This post has nothing to do with this blog... As a blogger, I am posting this because of the unsatisfied comment of a minister that made me feel unsatisfied... The Article below is quoted from Malaysia Today.

The Star wrote this when Jeff Ooi and Rocky's Bru was sued by NSTP:

"Jeff Ooi and Rocky have made a name for themselves with their fearless comments and even breaking news. They have a huge following among Malaysians and, in the case of Screenshots, there are even advertisements, which is unprecedented in Malaysian blog journalism.

Their blogging has made Malaysian democracy more meaningful although not everyone agrees with their views. They should not be regarded as dissenters because democracy is about tolerance.

They have been bold enough to bring up issues that mainstream newspapers have not done.

It is unfortunate that many Malaysians only look at the political scene in black and white.

It would be meaningless if Malaysians were to agree to everything our political leaders say. We would be doing a great disservice to the country’s leadership if we do not speak up. "

So can I say TheStar is a liar now?-Here to the full article
