What's going to happen there?
There will be a registration point for Maxis 1Store at this week's Content Malaysia gathering. In other words, no need to spend time submitting online. Just bring all relevant documnents to the event and we will get you started as a Maxis Developer.

Also "This time we will be focusing on the Mobile World Congress as well as the influx of developer platforms. How should one go about selecting which platform to develop an application?"

Come and discuss the Mobile World Congress and what it means to developers. -What are thoughts on Windows Phone 7, Symbian 3 and Bada operating systems? -What do you think of all the phones that were launched at MWC? -What else did you like about MWC?

GoMobile09 Twitter contest

GoMobile 2009, the ultimate mobile lifestyle event of the year, will be held from 23 to 25 October, 2009 at KL Convention Centre. Mobile World, on behalf of GoMobile 2009 will be holding a Twitter contest with two great phones to be won!

The contest starts now and it will end on the third day of GoMobile 2009 EXPO on October 25. It is easy to participate, just answer this simple question: Why I love to GoMobile?

There are two categories to be won:

Category 1: The most creative answer to the question Why I love to GoMobile? wins a Palm Centro.

Category 2: The highest number of Tweets with the #gomobile09 tag wins a MOTOKRZR. If someone else re-tweets your tweet, it’ll be added to your total tweets

All your tweets will automatically qualify for both categories as long as it meets the terms and conditions below:

CommunicAsia 2009- Interview with Mobile World

As you noticed, there has been a slow update over the past week on this blog. The reason is because I was at Communic Asia 2009 event that took place in Singapore.

So how was Communic Asia 2009? For me, the attendance was disappointing although the first day was crowded but then attendance was worst during the following 3 days. I estimate there was at least a 50% drop on attendance this year.

Some updates are new phones announcement from Nokia(Nokia Connection event), Samsung, LG Mobile, Sony Ericsson and the Garmin-Asus nuvifone.

Mobile Broadband Roadtest

Mobile World is currently working on a mobile broadband roadtest for the next month cover.

As you can see we managed to obtain the modems above and we drove to 6 different location to conduct the speedtest.

Questions: Mobile Contents in Malaysia

Dear readers,

I am writing an article about mobile contents/applications in Malaysia to be featured in Mobile World.

Below are some questions that I hope you can help me answer from a mobile user perspective:

1. Do you use mobile content? If yes, what type of content or applications on your phone?
2. What type of mobile contents do you expect to see? What is missing in Malaysia?
3. How much (maximum) are you willing to pay for such content (Refer Q3)?
4. Do you use non-local applications such as Google Maps or Yahoo Go? If yes, are you satisfied with the data chargers? If no, why you don't use such applications?
5. What can be done to improve our local mobile content? What is your opinion?

Mobile World has launched Mobile World Pocket recently that will allow you to download a "light version" of the magazine to your phone.

"Apart from viewing our exclusive content, you can also participate in our comments section and also vote for your top phone for that month. Also, we have our Buying Guide built into that as well. Now you can access info on any phones on the go. " said Nigel Yap, Editor of Mobile World.

To download the free Mobile World Pocket:

Step 1: Type ‘GET MAG’ in your SMS and send it to 22039.

Step 2: You’ll receive and SMS: Thanks for downloading Mobile World. Please click to start downloading.

Step 3: The application will be installed onto your phone and you can start accessing its content immediately.

Note that currently Mobile World Pocket is available only to Maxis customers and should work on most of the Java phones.
