Hey Kugan,

Good luck to Ruumz. But the thing about the social media and social networking is that it's a global phenomena. People want to be connected with their friends here in Malaysia as well as friends everywhere else.

The problem with these services built by Malaysian companies, this includes that IM service by Maxis and DiGi, is that it only tries to target Malaysian users.

In this business (the social media business ) you either (1) build a service/application that can compete with the best, i.e. Facebook, Myspace, Windows Live Messenger, or (2) build a business model that rides on available popular services.

I remember TMnet tried to sell a similar service once. An online portal with free music, travel reviews, articles, news, etc. Never took off. It was during Michael Lai's time too.

Cheers

Hi Ben,

You are right.

But Ruumz is a social networking site targeted to the world.

The only difference between Ruumz and other social sites like Facebook is that Ruumz is created to be localised.

For an example, you can only send a flower(picture) in facebook, but with Ruumz you will be able to send a real flower, even across countries in the future.

Not only that, there are tons of other things that lets you engage with your friends and so on.

This project has nothing to do with Michael Lai(directly) as Rummz is an independent project by Green Packet.

I believe Ruumz will be able offer something different to the Malaysian and also to the world.
