"The government will study the existing rate for broadband services so that its usage can be widened and would not pose a burden to users, said Information Communication and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim.""The ministry will find a way so that the charges for internet and broadband services in Malaysia are affordable and do not pose a burden to the users,"
"He said although the discussion on the payment rate was not welcomed by the service providers, the ministry was committed to reducing the charges so that more people could use the service."
"He said using the handphones as an index or indicator would be more accurate as there were now 28 million users of handphones in Malaysia and it could be said that most of them used handphones with the 3G service, which meant that the use of the broadband had increased."
"In another development, Rais announced that the government would construct more than 1,000 transmission towers of various sizes throughout the country this year to increase the penetration of broadband services in the country."

The picture says a thousand words about what we all think about this piece of news....
Another bullshit. The only thing that can happen is that we pay a cheap RM10 for 1GB and then blocked(like Maxis) or RM77 for 1Gbps. Wow, a drop of RM11 after price stagnant for 6 years!
haha ... Maxis do so coz too many abusing and over use user HOGGGGGing the network.
in the second issue maybe the new 21 mbps network equipment is too high cost investment then need to recover the cost from "user"... Pity those maxis bbd user ...
indeed i am the lucky one ... coz i am not a maxis user and a happpppiiiiii Digi user ...
not bias or promo but i choose "Always the Smarter Choice" and "Broadband Done Right" :)
happpi sharing ...
i much more concern on the service quality, rather about the rates
Well... only certain ppl willingly to pay high for Celcom.. typical TM group of company user.. I wonder has him even travel to oversea and observe the growth? why always Katak Di Bawah Tempurung? I wonder ...especially for those Celcom BB users like Mr Exxxx6.
to Beautiful, eventhough u love to attack me (i wonder why lol) but i didn't mind about it hehe
FYI, im using Celcom BB because of their postpaid plan (Celcom Executive), since that is the most suitable postpaid plan for me. while for the broadband or a.k.a data unlimited, it just 'add-on' to my postpaid line (i attach it in a single simcard), plus its cheaper too.. and only Celcom got 3G coverage at my hometown in Pahang.
i only said, it is not that bad coz as u can see i can still reply to ur comment right now ;-)
erm, i also WONDERING why half-milions people are still using Celcom Broadband nowadays.
Because CELCOM is making up the real figure of their BB users. If they even think half of the prepaid users are BB users, so be it. And Celcom is hiding all details and limitation of their BB. Everyone knows the Celcom users are careless and easy to be manipulated group.
Data unlimited for RM99, call it cheap? OMG!
Do tell me how good is celcom service quality till you can pay a premium rate for this common service.
I notice that Mr Epool86 gets attacked a lot in a lot of places, not just here, because of his extreme Celcom fanboyism. Google his username and you will see. Go figure. Even I get annoyed. There at last I vented out. :-)
I have to agree with BT. Celcom is great on hyping up when often times its service falls short of even the most conservative expectation. Yes, Celcom users are careless and easily manipulated. Almost none of my friends using Celcom prepaid knew about their sky high non-adjacent call charges until I told them. Half converted out, half remained because of, well, let's say, "anti 1Malaysia" reasons, enough to compel them to stay even if it means paying more, and it's not quality (you must be joking!) or coverage. Celcom BB users I know all complain about its service quality while paying through their noses. Indeed, I subscribed to Celcom BB for a month before, and felt that it was the single most useless thing I ever spent RM98 on.
maybe we are in different situation and environment here, as majority of my friend are using celcom (esp UOX).
i can see on my facebook the [via Celcom SMS] is everywhere, so ask this people why using celcom? why not using maxis with their expensive facebook sms service?
and ask hundreds of people who are willing queue very2 long to get their blackberry and also they willing to be tied with celcom contract plan couple of days ago at Pavilion KL.
it is not fair to said Celcom users are careless and easily manipulated, i know about non-adjacent call charges that is why im not using xpax, same goes to my frens.. they all use UOX/SOX. and some of them are using postpaid.
at my workplace, my supervisor and my manager are using celcom postpaid with data unlimited too, so do u think this people are easy to manipulated? maybe ur experience with celcom is not so good and i felt sorry about that, so just choose your best operator because celcom never force you to use their service ;-)
note: celcom data unlimited not rm99/month (that is the old package) but celcom quite lazy to update their web.
